Gold Star Wives of America

Wisconsin Legislature Honors
U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Chuck Kiser

Leibham and Ziegelbauer remember his dedicated service to our nation

United States Army Staff Sergeant Chuck Kiser was honored this morning in two ceremonies at the State Capitol

Madison, WI. Cleveland resident and United States Army Staff Sergeant Chuck Kiser was honored this morning in two ceremonies at the State Capitol in Madison according to State Senator Joe Leibham (R-Sheboygan) and State Representative Bob Ziegelbauer (D-Manitowoc).

The State Assembly and State Senate both opened their session days with brief ceremonies commemorating the life and service of Staff Sergeant Kiser, who lost his life near Mosul, Iraq while defending the freedom of Americans and helping to earn it for Iraqis on June 24, 2004. Staff Sergeant Kiser was 37 years of age.

"We wanted to take this opportunity to recognize Staff Sergeant Kiser for his service and sacrifice to our nation," said Senator Leibham. "We also felt it was important to properly thank his family for the sacrifice that they've had to make and to let them know we'll be thinking of them as they continue their family's healing process."

Representative Ziegelbauer added, "By all accounts Chuck Kiser was not only an extraordinary soldier but also an exemplary member of our community. He will be sorely missed."

Staff Sergeant Kiser is survived by his wife, Debra - a member of Gold Star Wives of America, Inc. - and their two children, Alicia and Mark. All three were on hand for both ceremonies, as well as members of Kiser's unit, family and friends.
