Congressman John Tierney (NY) announced that the Surviving Spouses Benefit Improvement Act of 2014 had been introduced (dropped) on the House Floor. This announcement was made during Gold Star Wives Congressional Reception at the Cannon House Building on the 22nd of May. This bill now has a number - HR 4741. This bill will provide equity to surviving spouses receiving DIC at a rate of 55% of a 100 percent disabled Veterans pay, which is comparable to other Federal Military Survivor Programs. .
Gold Star Wives is extremely grateful to Congressman Tierney for getting this much needed legislation to the floor of the House of Representatives. ALL GSW Members are encourage to begin grassroots support and contact their Members of the House of Representatives to Cosponsor this important piece of legislation.
