March, 2017

Greetings to all, as I sit writing this message during the biggest snow storm we have had this season.

Like everyone else we are eager to put winter behind and welcome spring. After the holiday season, things quiet in New England for a while giving everyone a needed break.

The Boston Chapter of GSW is the busiest and consistently has the most GSW activities occurring. As the largest chapter they have the most participation. Our other chapters are smaller and less active due primarily to an aging membership.

It was my honor to represent the GSW’s at the Welcome Home Banquet held in Western Massachusetts at the invitation from the Military Order Purple Heart organization. It was heartening to see our Vietnam veterans honored at this dinner. There was also an acknowledgement of the sacrifices of the Gold Star Wives and Family. Such recognition is welcomed.

Plans to formally observe Gold Star Wives official anniversary in April are being made. We hope to be  able to honor all our Gold Star Wives throughout New England. I addition to other plans the New England regional conference will be held April 15, 2017 in Sturbridge Mass. Anyone wishing to attend is most welcome. Our regional officers will be sending information out shortly to members, but anyone else who may wish to attend may contact any of us for information about the conference.

We wish all an early spring, and a good GSW day.
