"We believe surviving spouses and dependent children need an organization dedicated solely to their needs, concerns, and welfare.”

Nancy Menagh

The Board Secretary records the minutes during the first and second board meetings at national convention and throughout the year during teleconferences. The secretary files reports and records motions and votes, takes attendance as well as provides the board chair with a list of committees and their members.

Nancy's Bio:

My husband, Capt. Phil Menagh, served in Vietnam with the USMC, but in 1984 he was killed in VA National Guard when I was pregnant with my 5th child.  Back then the Guard had limited benefits based on “the 30 day rule” – which was changed in 1985.  I got an immediate education in the importance of advocating for our benefits.

In 1996 I joined GSW Willamette Valley Chapter; serving as  NW Region President, VP, and Secretary; Chapter President, VP, Secretary and Treasurer.

After working in health insurance for over 25 years, I hope to semi-retire  in 2015.  I also work with St. Vincent De Paul serving the poor, am involved with my church, busy with my grandchildren, and enjoy my son’s CrossFit gym.  Through the gym, we put on the annual 31 Heroes fundraiser, which in 2014 benefited Snowball Express.
