"Commitment is an act, not a word"
~ John Paul Satre
As I prepare for the Gold Star Wives 69th National Convention in the wonderful city of Seattle from July 16-19, I am bringing to the membership my continued commitment to GSW. I am reminded of the need for our recommitment of our members to our organization.
We must remember that our organization is one where our individual involvement continues to make the organization strong. The Government Relations Committee has been working hard to on the DIC and SBP/DIC issues. The commitment of us, the Gold Star Wives, helps those who are a part of our organization along with those who have yet to join us.
We have had nominations for some but not all of our open positions. I urge the membership to look at assisting us, by volunteering to run for a National Office or the Board of Directors. We are collaborative teams that work to grow our organization along with our local chapters.
I would encourage members to attend the 69th National Convention as part of their commitment. Members attending have a say in the direction of Gold Star Wives for the future. Please remember that without our commitment to Gold Star Wives, we cannot continue to grow and support all those Gold Star families we care about.
I am looking forward to participating in an event on the Fourth of July, the 238th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence Day, and hope that you too will attend or participate in a patriotic event.
